Why this role is important for CPI’s work

At CPI, we are on a mission to drive deep technology innovation in healthcare and sustainability. Due to explosive growth in our HealthTech market sector we are now recruiting for a dynamic, skilled, entrepreneurial and self motivated Business Development Manager to join our commercial team. The role will be responsible for promoting and selling CPI’s HealthTech product development services to a varied customer base including SMEs, OEMs and Academia.

  • To grow commercial income in the HealthTech target markets by leading blended digital and face to face customer journeys. Manage end to end customer journey from identification to customer retention.
  • To build new commercial opportunities by researching new potential customers, identify key decision makers, engage through digital channels and maintain relationships through effective use of digital channels
  • To lead the pitch for CPI’s offering to external stakeholders, effectively translating CPI’s technical capability and clearly articulating the value that CPI brings to the market. 
  • To work with customers, internal experts, and technology teams to prepare compelling project proposals/​briefs/​quotes, negotiate and close project proposals to a Purchase Order/​Commercial Contract.
  • To monitor market insights, customer feedback and evaluate the performance of existing CPI offerings and identify areas for improvement or innovation. Identify strategic market opportunities in the medical devices, diagnostics and wearables market and provide recommendations to CPI’s strategy and product development teams that enables CPI to invest in new technology development.
  • To maintain and manage an account management process. Ensure client relationships are managed throughout the customer journey.

The person we are seeking

We are looking for someone with consultative selling skills who can work in partnership with our strategic, technology and venture funding teams to maximise the value CPI brings to our customer base. Focus areas include IVD, Wearables, Medical devices (drug delivery systems, implantable devices, imaging (e.g. endoscopy) and Digital Health.

If you are passionate about innovation in the HealthTech space, want to make a societal impact and have proven BD experience in the sectors outlined above we want to hear from you!

As a given you will have excellent customer management skills and be able to effectively communicate our Value Propositions to both technical and commercial stakeholders. You will be expected to own the complete business development process from generating leads to developing key accounts and closing opportunities.

You will have substantial technical and business development expertise within the HealthTech space and be comfortable moving across sub-segments in the HealthTech market.

Ideally you will have/​be:

  • Experience the medical devices product development sector.
  • A successful track record of business development, sales and or building a commercial success.
  • Degree in engineering, science or closely associated subject.
  • A thought leader with a history of speaking at relevant conferences, with excellent presentation skills.
  • Willing to travel regularly and internationally.
  • An effective communicator with ability to work as part of a growing team to meet timescales with strict attention to quality.
