Hunada Nouss
Non-Executive Director,
Hunada has built a successful career as finance and business leader in global organisations notably Diageo plc and Burger King Corporation, working in the UK, in continental Europe and in the US. She developed expertise in driving strategic focus, performance improvement and change, and developed a passion for building capability and enabling others to succeed.
In the mid-2000’s, she was enticed to take her private sector experience into Whitehall, taking on the Director General Finance role at the Department for Work & Pensions and at the former Department for Communities and Local Government. She has also pursued challenging roles in the not-for-profit and international development sectors.
Alongside the day job, Hunada has given her time to issues she views as important. Passionate about the value of learning, she was drawn to educational institutions. She served as a member of Council for City St Georges, University of London, and is now an honorary Rector for the university. She chairs the Remuneration committee of Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford, and is a school governor. Closer to the heart of education policy, Hunada supported delivery through her board role on the Education and Skills Funding Agency.
As a problem-solver, with a keen admiration for the ability of scientific endeavour to bring answers to some of society’s major challenges, Hunada was for many years a trustee of Breast Cancer Campaign, a research-based charity funding science to improve the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Later, she has become a Board member and Audit committee chair at the Met Office, which delivers the UK’s weather service and leads the nation’s climate science to inform our commitment to tackling climate change. She currently works with the Royal Society, through a role on the Audit Committee and is excited about the opportunity to add CPI to this list of organisations driving change through innovation.
In addition to the above, Hunada is the Senior Independent Director and Chair of Audit Committee for MOSL (the UK’s water market operator for businesses) and is the independent Audit Committee Chair of the Covid-19 Public Inquiry
Hunada was awarded the OBE in the 2020 New Years’ Honours for public service.
Hunada is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and has an MA from Oxford University.
