Greig Rooney

Greig is an accomplished life sciences leader with more than 20 years of experience within highly regulated, often publicly listed organisations across pharmaceuticals, vaccines and biopharmaceutical manufacturing - bringing strategic vision and operational excellence to his role at CPI. He joined CPI’s Executive Leadership Team in January 2026 to lead the organisation’s Pharma and HealthTech portfolio, accelerating the scale-up of innovative products and technologies that improve patient outcomes and strengthen UK health resilience.

Before joining CPI, Greig served as Managing Director at Valneva Scotland, where he led major national and international initiatives and built high-performing teams. His career spans executive leadership roles across the UK, Europe and the USA, and reflects a strong track record in transforming organisations, driving safety and quality excellence, and fostering collaborative, high impact working cultures.

Greig is passionate about empowering people and creating environments where innovation can thrive. He champions cross-sector collaboration across academia, industry, government and investors to unlock new opportunities across therapeutics, medical devices, digital health and AI-enabled technologies. He serves as Chair of the Scottish Patient Awareness Council and has recently been appointed to the Board of Scottish Enterprise. Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 17 after surviving malaria as a child, Greig has a deeply personal understanding of how innovation can change lives. Now using an artificial pancreas system to manage his own condition, he is passionate about marrying medical technology with targeted therapies to improve the quality of life for people living with chronic diseases.
