George Gillespie
Non-Executive Director,
Dr Gillespie is a Board Director for HORIBA Ltd, Japan and is responsible for HORIBA’s Energy & Environmental division including the global Mobility, Energy, Industrial Process and Environmental businesses.
Having amassed over 35 years international experience in the automotive and energy industries, George has worked extensively in the UK, Germany, USA, Japan and China.
After joining MIRA Ltd in 2019, Dr Gillespie led the business through a significant turnaround, including establishing MIRA Tech Park as the largest mobility technology park in Europe, culminating in a sale of the business to HORIBA in 2015.
From 2014 to 2018, Dr Gillespie chaired the Intelligent & Connected Vehicles Group within the UK Automotive Council. He has worked extensively on the economic growth agenda across the UK Midlands including serving on both the Coventry & Warwickshire, and Leicestershire LEPS.
Dr Gillespie is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and was President of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) from 2019 to 2021. He has been a non-executive Director for the Centre for Process Innovation Ltd since 2022.
