CPI at PhytoFactories 2025

Luxembourg, 18 – 20 June 2025

We’re proud to be sponsoring, exhibiting and presenting at Phytofactories 2025, taking place from 18 to 20 June 2025 in Luxembourg. This leading international conference, organised by LIST, brings together experts in plant cell culture, molecular farming, synthetic biology and bioprocessing to explore sustainable approaches for manufacturing high-value compounds using plant systems.

As a Gold Sponsor, CPI is proud to be leading critical discussions around the scale up of plant-based innovations towards large scale biomanufacturing. With deep expertise in engineering biology, bioprocess development and scale-up, CPI supports customers to translate lab-scale innovations into robust, scalable and commercially viable products and processes.

Speaking at PhytoFactories 2025

CPI’s Dr Reza Ranjbar, Head of Technology, will present Strategies for Scale-Up and Commercialisation of Submerged Plant Cell Culture: Bioprocess Design and Engineering Considerations.” His talk will delve into the complexities of scaling up submerged plant cell cultures — a promising route for producing high-value compounds like pharmaceuticals, pigments, flavours and cosmetic actives.

Reza will explore scale-down modelling for predictive process development, the impact of bioreactor design on shear sensitivity and mixing, and how to manage critical engineering challenges such as shear stress, foaming, and gas transfer. The session will also examine scale-out and scale-up strategies, drawing on real-world case studies to highlight best practices and lessons learned on the path to commercialisation.

Meet the team

Joining Reza at the event is Judith Huggan, Business Development Manager at CPI. Judith plays a key role in helping organisations navigate the journey from concept to commercial reality, connecting innovators with the technical expertise, facilities, and support needed to bring plant-based products to market.

Together, Judith and Reza bring a blend of commercial insight and technical depth, and will be available throughout the conference to share more about CPI’s work in submerged plant cell culture, recent collaborations, and opportunities to partner on future innovation. Whether you’re exploring early-stage research or scaling toward manufacture, come and speak to the team to see how CPI can help.
