Steve is currently Non-executive Chairman of Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies - a globally leading biopharmaceutical contract manufacturing and development organisation. He was CEO for 6 years leading the company through two acquisitions as they grew from employing 1000 to 2500 staff and increased turnover fourfold in the same period.
In addition, Steve has chaired the UK's Industrial Biotechnology Forum since 2013 and has been Co-Chair of the UK Bioeconomy Strategy Board since 2016 - leading to the publication of the UK Government's Bioeconomy Strategy in December 2018.
Steve started his career as a graduate Chemical Engineer out of UMIST (Manchester) with ICI and had a variety of roles across technical, manufacturing, supply chain, safety, health and environment and commercial with ICI, Zeneca and Avecia in both UK and USA before joining his current business in 2004 where he became President of the UK operation in 2007.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers and in 2017 was recognised by his peers as North East England Business Executive of the Year.
