The role

We are looking for an organised and customer-focused HR Assistant to join our People Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering an efficient and professional HR service, supporting employees, managers and leaders across the full employee lifecycle.

As the first point of contact for HR enquiries, you will provide timely and accurate advice, coordinate HR administration activities, and help ensure a positive employee experience. Working within a fast-paced environment, you will support recruitment, onboarding, HR systems administration and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and compliance.

Key tasks in the HR Assistant role will include (but are not limited to):

  • Acting as the first line of HR support, providing clear, accurate and timely advice to employees and managers.

  • Providing administrative support across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, contractual changes, payroll changes and offboarding.

  • Supporting the end-to-end recruitment process, including coordinating interviews and liaising with candidates and hiring managers.

  • Managing onboarding activities, including contracts, references, right to work checks and new starter documentation.

  • Maintaining and updating HR systems to ensure employee data is accurate, compliant and up to date.

  • Managing shared HR and recruitment inboxes and responding promptly to employee and candidate queries.

  • Raising purchase orders and processing invoices in a timely manner.

  • Supporting HR projects and identifying opportunities to improve processes and service delivery.

The person

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, customer-focused and able to manage a varied workload while maintaining attention to detail.

Essential

  • Educated to Level 3 (or equivalent) in an administration, HR or business-related subject.

  • Experience of working in a busy office environment managing a varied and high-volume workload.

  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications in a business environment.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to provide clear and professional customer service.

  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritise work effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes with minimal supervision.

It would be great if you also had

  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (or higher).

  • Experience using HR business systems to process information accurately and efficiently.

  • Experience of working within an HR or Learning & Development function.

  • Experience coordinating meetings, events or appointments.
