The role

The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery and realisation of project work through preparation, development, design, and implementation in line with individual team and the wider technology team’s requirements. Working under the technical supervision of senior colleagues, you will support a range of activities to meet business objectives and play a key role in transferring processes into our pilot fermentation facilities.

  • To maintain consistent and documented compliance with all relevant Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE), Data Integrity (DI), quality and best practice requirements.

  • Setting up, planning and executing experimental/pilot scale runs (20–1000L fermentations), analysing and reporting results to agreed standards.

  • Supporting the smooth transfer of processes from customer sites and CPI laboratories into larger-scale pilot fermentation facilities.

  • Provide microbiological support within the pilot plant for Operations and Bioprocess Development teams.

  • Providing clearly documented records of technical data, methodologies, and decisions.

  • Maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.

  • Communicating effectively with the wider operations teams to deliver project outcomes.

  • Presenting findings and contributing to reports and presentations to raise awareness of CPI’s capabilities.


The person

The successful candidate will be educated to HNC level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline and;

  • Possess foundation of technical knowledge and experience in microbiology and/or bioprocessing, with evidence of technical problem solving.

  • Have practical, technical-based work experience gained in industrial environments.

  • Can demonstrate their ability to apply limited scientific/engineering methods to contribute to business activities.

  • Have strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in high-pressure environments.

It would also be advantageous if the successful candidate:

  • Had experience of an array microbiological techniques in a professional setting.

  • Had a working knowledge of food safety regulations.

  • Had experience of working with non-scientific operations teams.
