Minister of State for Universities & Science visits CPI

CPI helps companies to develop, prototype and scale up their new products and processes. CPI provides facilities and know-how so that companies can prove and demonstrate that their process work before investing money in equipment and staff.
Mr Willetts has previously seen CPI’s work on Industrial Biotechnology and Sustainable Processing, and this time he viewed a range of printable electronic demonstrators being produced at CPI and met with current customers to discuss projects developing next generation lighting, displays and solar cells as well as printed logic and smart packaging.
CPI is a key member of The High Value Manufacturing Catapult which is an elite network of technology and innovation centres that bridge the gap between business, academia, research and government. They are a powerful new element in the UK economy, helping businesses develop relevant and exciting ideas in receptive and invigorating environments. High value manufacturing accounted for 35% of all UK exports in 2010, contributing £151bn to the UK balance of payments.
