SunPatch Limited (SPL) are an SME based in the North East who have been developing a transparent UV filtering patch. The technology, which has been developed in conjunction with Durham University, uses additives into polyurethane resin to produce a transparent polyurethane film made into various sized patches. These patches are used to cover moles, scars and susceptible areas of skin to filter UV light with an efficiency of SPF 50UVA.

SPL contacted CPI after hearing about the company through the North East Chamber of Commerce. Following a meeting with the CPI team it was suggested that the company undertakes an Innovation Integrator® assessment in order to evaluate the current business model of the company, its technology and identify the next steps.

Following the assessment, CPI supported Sun Patch on a number of levels. CPI were able to introduce SPL to potential investors, marketing and PR partners as well as undertake validation testing of their products. CPI has undertaken research to ascertain the optimum blend of additives to polyurethane resin. This research is aimed at either confirming that the current blend is the optimised blend or that a modified blend would give the required efficacy whilst being cost effective to produce.

SunPatch are continuing to work with CPI to identify, develop and commercialise new and innovative products for their range.

CPI is your innovation partner to make your ideas a reality.
