Joint NHSA-CPI Workshop on Healthcare Photonics
Photonic technologies play an important role in many different aspects of healthcare, from imaging and therapy through to diagnostics, in surgery and point of care instrumentation. The purpose of this workshop is to bring together the community of companies and other stakeholders who are active in this field in order to promote collaboration and new translational research projects.
What will the participants get out of the workshop
Participants in this workshop will get information about clinical needs which could be addressed using photonics and about some of the latest available photonic technologies which could be used to meet those needs. In addition, they will get information about processes for the manufacture of precision optical instrumentation and about the regulatory framework for developing new Med-Tech devices. There will be the opportunity to network with like-minded companies and people and to explore proposals for collaborative research and innovation projects. They will also have the opportunity to find out about the new National Centre for Healthcare Photonics, a world class open access innovation facility to accelerate innovation and commercialisation of photonics based technologies for healthcare applications, and to engage with the Centre very early in its development stage, helping to shape its design, equipment specification and the mix of services that will be offered.
