Business of Science
Science and the commercialisation of science continues to be fundamental to the economic growth of the North and throughout the UK economy. Following 3 successful years in Manchester and Liverpool, the Business of Science conference will be moving to Leeds in 2019 to highlight that City and the wider region’s successful role in the development of ground-breaking science, innovation and invention.
The recent BEIS-sponsored Science and Innovation Audit for Leeds City Region and the surrounding areas, acknowledges it to be the largest economic area in the UK outside London and the South East, generating £65bn GVA. With a population of 3 million, of whom 1.9 million are of working age (2015), the area is at the heart of the UK’s advanced manufacturing and engineering industry and at the forefront of Medical Technologies. With increasing investment into STEM and the recent decision for Channel 4 to move to the City, this is a perfect time to welcome the conference to this fast-developing City where the relationship between Science, Innovation, Business and Skills will be discussed.
