The Role

Fixed term for 8 weeks, 37 hours per week.

CPI’s Formulation department is providing an opportunity for a summer placement student to join its existing team. The placement opportunity will allow the student to gain hands on experience in colloid techniques and formulation in an industrial environment. The student will contribute to colloid science projects and enhancement of CPI capabilities along with solving application-oriented research problems.

Duties of the role include:

  • Working safely in a laboratory environment, understanding how to operate within the safe operating envelope and producing relevant safety documentation.
  • Complying with CPI quality procedures and committing to good housekeeping standards
  • Contributing to the formulation of products including researching methodology alongside carrying out lab-based experimental work and analytical techniques.
  • Clearly documenting methodology and data in lab books and electronically, followed by processing and analysis.
  • Contributing to project presentations and reports and forming conclusions to advise future work.

The Person

We are seeking to recruit a candidate who is educated to A level or equivalent in Chemistry and currently undertaking a degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related fields. The successful candidate should be able to work to deadlines, with technical writing, problem solving and communication skills alongside experience of Microsoft Office applications. The ideal candidate will be committed to and actively seek opportunities to develop themselves within the role.
