The Role

Fixed term for up to two years.

CPI is offering an exciting opportunity to be part of our Procurement Team on our established Business Administration Apprenticeship Programme. The apprenticeship is designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to develop as a future Buyer. The team are responsible for purchasing a wide range of goods, works and services across the organisation in an efficient and timely manner, in a way which maximises value for money and ensures compliance with public procurement regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To manage the end to end administration process for purchase ordering.
  • To use CPI’s internal Purchase Requisition System to identify purchase requirements and ensure required information is available prior to progressing to purchase order.
  • To be responsible for raising purchase orders on CPI’s financial accounting system (SAGE 200).
  • To be responsible for placing and expediting purchase orders with suppliers for goods or services.
  • To goods receive purchase orders when goods/services have been received.

What will this apprenticeship offer me?

We are offering the opportunity to study as a Business Administration Apprentice within our busy Procurement Team. You will develop professional-level, job specific skills in purchasing and procurement whilst studying towards your level 3 in Business Administration and earning a salary.

The Person

The successful candidates must be enthusiastic, forward-thinking and have a desire for learning and taking on new challenges. As this role will have a varied and busy workload, it is essential that applicants have excellent time management skills and can demonstrate the ability to organise their workload accordingly. You will also be required to effectively communicate to both internal and external stakeholders of the Procurement Team, in a variety of ways such as face-to-face, telephone and email. A good level of IT skills is essential, candidates must have demonstrable experience of using Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel etc.


To be eligible for our apprenticeship programme you will need:

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics grade 9 – 4/A*- C (or be willing to work towards).
