Why this role is important for CPI’s work

At CPI we are at an exciting time as our organisation expands. Our Biologics Facility based in Darlington is currently working on the process development and manufacturing evaluation of the Imperial College London vaccine to combat COVID-19

CPI is also in the process of building a new Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) based in Glasgow, developing next-generation pharmaceutical manufacturing. The centre is a collaboration between CPI, University of Strathclyde, UKRI, Scottish Enterprise and founding industry partners, AstraZeneca and GS; and will ensure the UK is a technology and innovation leader in pharmaceutical manufacturing. The MMIC is set to open in 2021.

To support these innovative projects, we need to ensure our staff are trained to become GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)/GDP (Good Distribution Practice) compliant. 

As the L&D Business Partner — GMP, you would lead and support the implementation of the competency management framework needed to be come GMP compliant. In this role, you would be responsible for diagnosing technical and GMP learning needs, and ensuring individuals are fully competent to perform their role compliantly. 

You would work closely with the business units within CPI to achieve GMP compliance to ensure the delivery of projects and business unit objectives. 

Roles and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • To manage GMP/GDP training processes 
  • To define training requirements 
  • To assign curricula to personnel 
  • To identify trainers 
  • To manage Train the Trainer programmes (OJT/ILT)
  • To identify Subject Matter Experts (SME) to develop training 
  • To monitor overdue training 
  • To retain training content, records and assessments 
  • To perform the annual effectiveness review
  • To manage GMP/GDP training processes 
  • To define training requirements 
  • To assign curricula to personnel 
  • To identify trainers 
  • To manage Train the Trainer programmes (OJT/ILT)
  • To identify SMEs to develop training 
  • To monitor overdue training 
  • To perform the annual effectiveness review

The person we are seeking

We are looking for someone who has strong knowledge in the application of cGMP requirements, biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes, and the purpose and function of supporting processes. 

It is essential you are educated to at least A‑Level (or Level 3 equivalent) in a business/L&D/HR discipline or possess significant relevant industrial experience. A professional qualification in coaching or extensive work experience in the area, SHE or being a practitioner in profiling tools would be desirable but not essential.

Knowledge of training and organisational development theories, instructional design models, such as ADDIE, and e‑learning standards (e.g. SCORM and AICC) would be required. 

You must possess project management skills and have the ability to facilitate organising and managing multiple priorities and/​or projects. Strong business acumen and understanding of the impact of training on overall business performance is essential.

Fixed term for 12 months.
