Why this role is important for CPI’s work

In line with ambitious growth targets of the Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre, CPI is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to support Grand Challenges with a focus on delivering commercial income. . The successful candidate will engage, grow and manage accounts including an SME client pipeline. This role will involve travel, with a focus on visits to multinational companies as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s) located both within the UK and internationally, as such, the successful candidate would need to be in possession of a full UK driving licence with own transport. The successful candidate may also be expected to work across other CPI sites depending on business needs. Experience of the Scottish and UK ecosystems (Governmental bodies, industry bodies and technology SMEs) would be an advantage.

The person we are seeking

The candidate must have a proven track record in business development within the Pharmaceutical sector, and have a broad experience in the Life Sciences Sector, ideally in an industrial setting (including pharmaceutical, manufacturing and process technologies) operating at the techno-commercial interface. Previous experience of translating proof of concept technology to a commercialised offering including a good knowledge of Primary & Secondary Pharmaceutical Manufacturing in a cGMP environment as well as associated regulatory landscape would be a significant advantage. Building on this experience, the candidate will be expected to be able to generate, secure, qualify and develop high quality leads by being able to engage well with clients, understand how customers do business, find ways to address pressing business issues, and recommend the strategic solutions that improve the way our customers do business, by delivering through innovative R&D projects.

The successful candidate will have excellent client management and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical and commercial leads within CPI and network partners and will also be able to generate win:win value propositions with project partners.
