Why this role is important for CPI’s work
CPI has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join its existing team for maternity cover. This role is to manage and promote Business Development in line with CPI’s technical and commercial strategy. The successful candidate will attract partners and clients to the National Biologics Manufacturing Centre at CPI by networking, promoting, selling to and working closely with technical and commercial personnel. You will identify new opportunities, develop them into active projects and provide excellent customer relationship management. The successful candidate will be expected to raise the profile of the CPI through targeted networking and attendance at a range of events. Knowledge of CRM systems, strategic selling and proposal / quotation development will be advantageous.
Although based at Darlington, this role will involve travel across the UK to generate opportunities targeting the main biotechnology clusters and biologics manufacturing sites. The successful candidate would need to be in possession of a full UK driving licence. The successful candidate will be expected to regularly work in Darlington and across other CPI sites depending on business needs (Sedgefield and Wilton).
The person we are seeking
Candidates must be educated to degree level in a life sciences or related discipline and have broad experience in an industrial setting operating in a technical and/or commercial function, particularly within a biologics-related sector. Building on this experience, candidates will be expected to be able to engage clients, understand their technical challenges, translate the CPI technical offering and in turn manage the formation of innovative R&D projects.
The recruit will have excellent client management and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical and commercial leads within CPI. The successful candidate will also be able to generate win:win value propositions with project partners.
