Why this role is important for CPI’s work

The Centre for Process Innovation are seeking to recruit a Project Manager to join its existing and expanding Medicines Manufacturing team, working predominantly at our Glasgow site, currently located within the University of Strathclyde. The centre handles projects, grand challenges and programmes of work of varying scale and scope, from partners, commercial and public funding sources. The successful candidate will take overall responsibility for the delivery of numerous technical projects and will be required to deliver these projects successfully to meet time, quality and cost targets, realising measurable benefits and thereby ensuring satisfied customers and providing a foundation for repeat business. They will work closely with the project delivery teams and technical leads and their managers to ensure clear roles, responsibilities and objectives are defined, planned and delivered for each project.

The person we are seeking

The candidate must be able to demonstrate a track record of successfully controlling and delivering multiple technical projects of varying disciplines. Experience of managing R&D projects with high levels of uncertainty in a scientific environment would be desirable. The successful candidate will be financially adept, be able to manage and mitigate risk and must be competent in using Microsoft packages.

The successful candidate should be educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific or Engineering discipline. Candidates with Business related subjects with relevant experience, may also be considered. It is desirable for the candidate to have a background and project management experience (5+ years) in the pharmaceutical industry sector or parallel sectors such as Life Sciences or Chemicals and would also hold a Project Manager qualification such as APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) or an International Project Management Association (IPMA) Level D qualification equivalent.
