Why this role is important for CPI’s work
As one of the Senior Scientist’s for the Downstream team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in Biochemistry, Biologics Purification, Biochemical Engineering and relevant analytical techniques, to contribute to the delivery of projects. You will be the primary technical contact for clients, using good communication and customer management skills to build strong working relationships.
You will be expected to design, lead and perform experiments to develop and optimise recovery and purification processes for the manufacture of novel biopharmaceutical products. You will be seen as the specialist in your field and will be offering your knowledge to evaluate and develop new processing technologies for use in the downstream processing of biopharmaceutical products.
You will manage the scale up of downstream processes (up to pilot scale) to provide proof of successful process development/optimisation.
The person we are seeking
We are looking for someone who is educated to:
• HNC or Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus relevant industrial experience at a senior level or
• Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus significant industrial experience or
• Master Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus relevant industrial experience or
• PhD level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline plus some industrially relevant experience
It is essential you have a wide range of experience of performing techniques for the purification therapeutic biologics (for example centrifugation, filtration and chromatography) and protein analysis (for example HPLC/UPLC methods, SDS PAGE & ELISA technologies).
You must also have experience of leading technical development projects. You should also be able to demonstrate in-depth technical and theoretical knowledge in at least one area, being viewed as a specialist in this area by your peers.
You should be comfortable in using your own judgement and initiative within standard engineering/scientific practices, as well as an understanding of when to seek advice from colleagues.
