Why this role is important for CPI’s work

CPI is looking to recruit a Bid Proposal Development Manager to help develop successful funding proposals for collaborative R&D and innovation projects. You will be required to identify new opportunities for projects and suitable sources of funding, and take overall responsibility for building consortia and submitting proposals for funding. You will be working with external partners from industry and academia and internal teams across CPI, including technical, strategic marketing, finance, project management and legal. The role will require you to develop scientific, commercial, strategic, financial and economic cases for proposals. You will be expected to ensure that proposals are accurate, compliant, articulate and compelling and work towards challenging financial targets. You will work within a small, fast paced Bids and Proposals team and must be able to adapt quickly to new technology areas. 

This specific role will be to support the development of collaborative projects based on CPI’s capabilities in Electronics to address needs in diverse markets including Logistics & Packaging, Med-Tech, Automotive and Energy. You will also be required to be able to understand and incorporate CPI’s broader marketing offering, including capabilities in Formulation, Materials, Biotechnology and Pharmaceuticals.

This role is based at Sedgefield, however, travel will be required to all CPI sites (Redcar, Darlington, Sedgefield & Newton Aycliffe).

The person we are seeking

You will be educated to degree level in a science, technology, engineering or business discipline, ideally with knowledge of application development relating to the Internet of Things, sensor technology development and deployment, and application of integrated electronic systems in a range of other industries. Additional post graduate qualifications and/​or experience of working in a relevant industrial sector would be advantageous. You must have a strong commercial awareness supported with excellent writing skills and the technical credibility to build relationships with partners in industry and academia. The ideal candidate should have a high attention to detail, excellent editing and proofing skills and be comfortable working on multiple projects to tight deadlines. You will be an excellent team player who is able to quickly establish sustainable and professional relationships both internally and externally. You should ideally have a proven track record in developing innovative R&D projects and securing funding within a relevant technology area or market. Previous experience developing funding proposals for Innovate UK or H2020 funding would be desirable.
