Why this role is important for CPI’s work

CPI are looking to recruit a Microbial Physiologist for a two year fixed term contract, to join our existing Process Science and Technology Group. As the Microbial Physiologist, you will be responsible for defining, leading and delivering technical work programs within the biotechnology field. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams, from business development and project management, to engineers and operational teams. You will also work attentively with customers, helping them define their work and lead their program. 

You will be seen as the expert in your field and will be responsible for leading project work as well as, where appropriate, mentoring members of the group with your strong technical knowledge.

The person we are seeking

We are looking for someone with strong theoretical knowledge and proven practical experience in microbiology, biochemistry, fermentation, genetic engineering and enzymology. Experience of application of these skills in an industrial environment and experience of transferring processes from the laboratory to plant scale is highly desirable.

It is essential you are educated to:

HNC or Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/​Engineering discipline plus relevant industrial experience at a senior level or

• Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/​Engineering discipline plus significant industrial experience or

• Master Degree level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/​Engineering discipline plus relevant industrial experience or

• PhD level (or equivalent) in a Scientific/​Engineering discipline plus some industrial experience

You must also have experience of working with diverse or complex technical activities, using your own initiative to solve problems. The ideal candidate will also have a wide network and have ability to build such networks internally at CPI across teams.
