The Company

At CPI we work with our partners to translate inventions into products and processes that enhance health and well-being, protect and improve our environment and increase productivity across industries.

With a deep understanding of innovation processes and funding, outstanding technical expertise and industry relevant assets, we enable products and processes to be quickly and cost-effectively brought to market. This supports the development of next-generation manufacturing, highly-skilled jobs and economic growth for the UK.

Our partners operate across many diverse markets including pharmaceuticals, speciality chemicals, food and drink, electronics and transportation.

The Role

The UK’s pharmaceutical and fine chemical industry is accelerating development of a new generation of manufacturing processes, thanks to a new £56 million medicines manufacturing innovation facility.

The state-of-the-art Medicines Manufacturing Innovation Centre (MMIC) will be located in Renfrewshire, Scotland, and led by the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) in partnership with the University of Strathclyde, the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership (MMIP), and founding industry partners, AstraZeneca and GSK.

The centre will ensure the UK is a technology and innovation leader in small molecule pharmaceutical manufacturing, thereby boosting the competitiveness and productivity of the sector as a whole.

Consequently, there is now an exciting opportunity for a talented and experienced individual to develop and lead the Technology function; enabling the development of scientific knowledge and practice within MMIC, while being accountable for the development and delivery of the technology strategy. This role reports to the MMIC Managing Director, and forms part of the MMIC leadership team. The role holder will also take up a Professor of Practice role within the University of Strathclyde (UoS), MMIC’s research partner, for an initial period to lead the University’s partnership activities.

As the Technology Director, you will be responsible for the delivery and ongoing development of the MMIC technology strategy over short and longer-term horizons, contributing your expert knowledge to inform that strategy.

The Person

Candidates will have extensive technical and management experience and will have credibility and proven gravitas in the wider pharmaceutical environment. The successful candidate will be a recognised expert within the pharma industry and possess proven technical leadership ability.

The Benefits

At CPI we offer a wide range of benefits to our employees, including: family friendly policies, flexible holidays and holiday purchasing schemes, opportunities for learning and development, generous pension plan, life assurance and accident insurance schemes.
