The Role

The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI) is seeking to recruit an SMT Process Development Engineer to join our growing Printable Electronic platform. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery and realisation of collaborative and commercial projects by developing work programmes for the prototyping of flexible printed electronic device technologies.

Duties of the role include:

  • To carry out assembly of printed electronics circuits using both hand and automated toolsets. These toolsets include (but are not limited to) –
    • Muehlbauer roll to roll integration line
    • Europlacer pick and place
  • To maintain responsibility for the overall process development of the assembly equipment to optimise performance and efficiency, to meet project deliverables
  • To perform programming, troubleshooting and basic maintenance of integration equipment. This will include the preparation of the equipment and materials for trials and the recording of process data and relevant observations
  • To consult with the appropriate managers to determine integration capabilities and optimal production process. This includes DFM (design for manufacturing) methodologies
  • To consult with clients, business development and other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and successfully resolve issues

The Person

We are looking for candidates who have industrial experience in hand and automated SMT (Surface Mount Technology) assembly. Candidates will also have experience in the use of conductive adhesives for device integration. It’s essential that applicants have a demonstrable record of successful project delivery in an operational environment. Candidates should be educated to at least a HNC level within a relevant technical discipline
