Why this role is important for CPI’s work

Please note this role can be considered on a remote basis, the role holder will however have regular meetings across NE & NW England. Therefore we can only accept applications from candidates living in the UK.

CPI is growing its team of in-house science storytellers – people who can uncover exciting stories from our scientists and turn them into engaging content for broadcast and digital media.

We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated Communications Officer who enjoys turning complex scientific topics into compelling narratives and has a thirst to contribute to an organisation that is changing the world for the better. As our in-house storyteller, you will get under the skin of the business to discover and develop stories with newsworthy hooks about our innovations, culture, and people. 

Working closely with the PR and Content Manager, you will create and edit written copy for social media, blogs, press releases, and media pitches, and use your creativity and PR knowledge to contribute ideas to campaign planning. 

You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of our Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram channels, and will work with our in-house design team to drive ideas for graphics and videos for social media and YouTube.

You will also create content for our owned channels, you will help to pitch the best stories into trade, consumer and mainstream media. 

This exciting, varied senior officer role within the Marketing Communications team gives a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of content projects and play a key role in taking our external communications to the next level.

You will be trusted to work with people from across the company to deliver content that builds buzz, drives brand visibility, engages audiences, and tells the world how innovation at CPI is influencing the world to improve life through health, sustainability and digital transformation. 

The person we are seeking

The role would suit an individual who has excellent interpersonal skills and experience communicating science in-house, in an agency, or in a voluntary capacity.

You will ideally be educated to degree level; it would be great if this was in a science discipline however not essential.

As a new position within CPI, our Communications Officer will have the opportunity to shape their career within the Marketing and Communications team.
