Why this role is important for CPI’s work
CPI has an opportunity for an experienced Bid Proposal Development Manager, to join a small, fast-paced Bids and Proposals team. The team develop successful funding proposals for collaborative R&D and innovation projects.
In this role, you will support the development of collaborative projects based on CPI’s Biotechnology capabilities. Projects will address the needs of diverse markets including Food & Feed, Agri-tech, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, Sustainable Materials and Energy.
You will also be required to understand and incorporate CPI’s broader marketing offering, including capabilities in Formulation, Biologics, Medicines Manufacturing, Healthcare Photonics, and Electronics.
To identify new opportunities for projects and suitable sources of funding, taking overall responsibility for building consortia and submitting proposals for funding. You will use your skills and knowledge to develop Scientific, Commercial, Strategic, Financial and Economic cases for proposals.
Work with external partners from industry and academia and internal teams across CPI, including Technical, Strategic Marketing, Finance, Project Management and Legal.
Ensure that proposals are accurate, compliant, articulate and compelling and work towards challenging financial targets.
Working within a small, fast-paced Bids and Proposals team you will be able to adapt quickly to new technology areas.
The person we are seeking
Will be educated to Degree level in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Business discipline, ideally with knowledge of application development relating to Biotechnology and Chemical Processing.
Additional post-graduate qualifications and/or experience of working in a relevant industrial sector would be advantageous.
Will be able to demonstrate commercial awareness supported with excellent writing skills and the technical credibility to build relationships with partners in industry and academia.
Ideally, you will have a proven track record in developing innovative R&D projects and securing funding within a relevant technology area or market.
Previous experience in developing funding proposals for Innovate UK or EU Horizon 2020 funding would be highly advantageous.
With previous experience working with highly detailed documentation, excellent editing and proofing skills.
Will have demonstrable experience working on multiple projects to tight deadlines.
Will be an excellent team player who can quickly establish sustainable and professional relationships both internally and externally.
