What did you do before joining CPI?
Part time in Boyes whilst doing L3 IT course at Middlesbrough College

What qualities do you think CPI has as an employer?
Very encouraging and good at problem-solving.

Why did you decide to do an Apprenticeship?
Good way to learn – doing the job as you gain knowledge from college and others around you.

What appealed to you about an apprenticeship as opposed to other further learning or study programmes?
Help to gain confidence and get into a job to decide if it is what I want to do.

What was it that interested you in the subject area your apprenticeship is in?
Lot of areas to look into giving a wide variety of opportunities.

What are/​were your key responsibilities as an apprentice?
Carrying out daily samples, helping other areas of the company when possible, preparing shake flasks and other materials for fermentation runs, general lab checks such as cleaning and stock, preparing media, preparing cell banks when necessary – a wide variety of activities.

What was/​is the best part of your apprenticeship?
Being able to gain and develop new skills and also being able to earn my own wage.

What are your future career goals and how has/​will this apprenticeship help you reach them?
There are so many areas that I could look into I am still unclear

Please tell us any additional details about your experience of being an Apprentice at CPI.
Working at CPI has allowed me to improve people skills and gain more knowledge than I would studying the course alone. It has also allowed me to go on courses to also further my learning and improve my working skills.

Has the Apprenticeship helped you progress into a career or a permanent job?
Yes, it has.
