Fergal is the Director responsible for the Biologics area of the business at CPI. He is a Biochemist with more than 30 years’ experience in the Biotechnology and Fine Chemical Industry where he has gained extensive experience in successfully managing technical programmes and commercialising novel technologies across the biotechnology sector.
In 1982 he joined a research group at the Royal Free Hospital which successfully purified Factor VIII for the first time.
Fergal spent the next 25 years in industry where he has held positions in R&D, operations, business development and senior management for a number of UK based companies. These include Celltech, Enzymatix, Chiroscience, Chirotech, Dow Pharma and Warwick Effect Polymers where he was CEO. In 2008 Fergal joined Green Biologics Ltd (GBL) an Oxford based Industrial Biotechnology SME as where he worked extensively in China and Brazil developing and licensing technology for the manufacture of Biobutanol. Fergal joined CPI in 2013 taking up the role of Head of Operations throughout the build of CPI’s National Biologics Manufacturing Centre, in January 2016 he was appointed as Director of Biologics.
Fergal has a BSc in Biology from City of London Polytechnic and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology. He has previously served on the BBSRC’s Exploiting New Ways of Working Strategy Advisory Panel (ENWW SAP).
