Non-Executive Director and Chairman of Audit Committee

Sandy’s career history includes roles such as Senior Vice president of Technology at ICI, Production Director of the Tioxide Group, Director of Engineering at ICI, and General Manger of ICI Teesside operations.

He is the Chairman of Tees Valley Unlimited, the Local Enterprise Partnership for the Tees Valley and is the chairman of the Audit Committee for CPI.

He was the Chairman of the University of Teesside for nine years until January 2014. The University is recognized as one of the best for business engagement and for widening participation in higher education having won the Queen’s Award in 2013 and Times Higher University of the Year award in 2010.

He was chairman of Ensus UK, a company that operates at Wilton one of the world’s largest cereal grain bio-refineries in Europe refining locally grown animal feed wheat to produce bioethanol, high protein animal feed and carbon dioxide to be used in soft drinks and food production.

He is a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, and a fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.

He is a deputy lieutenant of the county of Durham and was awarded the OBE in 2009 for services to the North East.
