Functional materials
CPI’s work in functional materials brings together two national initiatives, NanoCentral® and Nano KTN, as well as incorporating a number of other projects, such as our collaboration on Atomic Layer Deposition with Newcastle University.
We are currently focused on developing and commercialising materials with unique properties arising from surface effects, and are working closely with industry with a view to building our reputation as a materials centre and becoming an open innovation materials platform partner.
With very high potential for spin outs and joint ventures in this field, we are investing significantly in creating the assets – in terms of both IP and physical infrastructure – to enable us to take advantage of these opportunities.
