Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network

The Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (Nanotechnology KTN) enables the effective exploitation and commercialisation of Micro- and Nano- Technologies (MNT) by promoting knowledge exchange, facilitating innovation, encouraging supply chain collaborations and providing thought leadership.
The key objectives of the Nanotechnology KTN are:
- To be the UK’s primary knowledge-based network for MNT
- To proactively engage with business to encourage the exploitation of MNT, thereby increasing the competitiveness of UK industry
- To facilitate networking between business, the science base and individuals (both in the UK and internationally) to stimulate innovation and knowledge transfer
- To sustain and strengthen UK capability by providing business development support to regional and national MNT facilities
- To provide a communications forum through which the MNT community can inform and influence regional and national policy
- To facilitate access to a wide range of funding opportunities, including the EU 7th Framework Programme, Grants for R&D and the Technology Programme.
Members of the Nanotechnology KTN receive many benefits, including:
- Networking – promotion of opportunities at regional, national and international levels for industry, academia, government and finance to interact and grow the UK MNT sector
- Business support – assistance with marketing, technology brokering, capability sourcing and funding
- Partnering – facilitation of joint research and development projects and the creation of enabling supply chain collaborations
- Policy shaping – promotion of the views of the MNT community to influence regional and national policy
- Web portal – provision of cutting-edge collaborative tools and facilities, plus rapid access to follow-up support services.
Established in 2007 as a successor to the former MNT Network, membership of the Nanotechnology KTN is open to industrial companies, technology providers, academia, trade bodies and learned societies with a passion for micro and nanotechnologies.
